The Moroccan Olympic team has finally come together in France, just days ahead of their appearance in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games football tournament. Initially, the team was missing a few players, but as of this week, all 22 members are present in Dardilly (Lyon), having arrived shortly after their departure from Casablanca.
The final player to join the squad was Oussama El Azzouzi, as reported by Le 360. Earlier in the week, the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) had announced the delayed arrival of the Bologna midfielder while other latecomers, including Achraf Hakimi, had already joined the team.
On Saturday, the fully assembled team conducted a training session focusing on physical and tactical preparations that had been ongoing since Monday. The session’s first quarter-hour was open to supporters and local club members from Limonest Dardilly Saint-Didier, as per FRMF details. The team is scheduled to depart for Saint-Étienne on Sunday, where they will kick off their competition.
The official Moroccan team Twitter account underlined the dedication of the squad with a post showcasing their continuous efforts.
In a preparatory match on Thursday, teammates of Soufiane Rahimi claimed a narrow victory (2-1) against Villefranche Beaujolais, a National league team. Goals by Ez Abde and Yassine Kechta set a positive tone ahead of their first Olympic match against Argentina on the following Wednesday at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium. They will subsequently face Ukraine three days later, with their final group match against Iraq scheduled at Allianz Riviera in Nice on July 30.
