Youssef En-Nesyri Joins Fenerbahçe in Historic Transfer
The much-anticipated transfer of Moroccan international Youssef En-Nesyri to Fenerbahçe has been officially confirmed after days of speculation and negotiations. The 27-year-old forward departs FC Sevilla to join the Turkish giants in a deal worth 19.5 million euros. This fee makes En-Nesyri the most expensive signing in the history of the Turkish Süper Lig, surpassing the previous record held by Brazilian player Jardel.
Fenerbahçe’s official announcement on Twitter read: “Our club has reached an agreement with Youssef En-Nesyri and his club FC Sevilla for the transfer of the player. The Moroccan striker has signed a contract that ties him to the yellow and dark blue colors for the next five years (until 2029). We welcome Youssef En-Nesyri to Fenerbahçe, the greatest sports club in the world, and wish him many more championships under our emblem.”
The player’s signing ceremony took place at the Ulker Stadium, with club vice-president Acun Ilıcalı expressing his excitement: “We are celebrating an important day for our club and Turkish football. Youssef En-Nesyri, the player with the highest transfer fee in Turkish football history, has signed for Fenerbahçe. We are thrilled to have such a valuable footballer here.”
En-Nesyri’s transfer was a top priority for Fenerbahçe’s head coach, José Mourinho. Ilıcalı confirmed the significance of the signing: “Was it a long process? Yes. Did we fight for it? Absolutely. But I had always mentioned that he was number one on our manager’s transfer list. We persisted and fought to bring his top choice, and today, that persistence has paid off.”
En-Nesyri, who was also courted by AS Roma and Al-Qadsiah, expressed his contentment with joining the Turkish club: “I am very happy to be here. This is a great team that I have known and followed for a long time. I would like to thank Mario Branco, our president, our coach for their trust, as well as my agent and my family, who have supported me immensely. I hope everything goes well. I will give my best on the pitch, and I hope we achieve our goals and make our fans happy. Many teams were interested in me, but it was important for me to come to Fenerbahçe, and I am very comfortable with my decision.”
Reflecting on his previous experience in Istanbul, En-Nesyri added: “I played here two years ago against Fenerbahçe (with Sevilla in the Europa League). I have followed the team since then and admired the support from the fans. The atmosphere was fantastic; I liked it a lot. I hope to reciprocate the love they’ve shown me on the field.”
With this record-breaking transfer, both En-Nesyri and Fenerbahçe look forward to a promising future together in the Turkish Süper Lig.
