Arriving in France on Sunday, the Moroccan U23 national team has begun their preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics, with an upcoming friendly match scheduled for this Thursday. According to the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Tarik Sektioui’s squad is set to face FC Villefranche Beaujolais on July 18 at 3 PM local time at an undisclosed location.
FC Villefranche Beaujolais finished 13th in the last season of the French National (3rd Division) and faced relegation to National 2 before being reprieved due to the financial struggles of other clubs. The team is based in Villefranche-sur-Saône, near Dardilly in the Lyon suburbs, where the Moroccan team is conducting its Olympic preparations.
Achraf Hakimi and his teammates will kick off their Olympic campaign in six days, next Wednesday, against Argentina at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium in Saint-Etienne.
The Moroccan Olympic team intensifies their preparations with rigorous training sessions, as shared by @EnMaroc on Twitter.
