Morocco U23 to Kick Off Paris 2024 Olympic Games Against Argentina

Morocco’s U23 team is set to make its debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this Wednesday against Argentina. Fans may notice a distinct difference in the kits worn by the Lion Cubs compared to those of the senior national team when they take the field at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne. Here’s why.

Unlike the jerseys worn by Walid Regragui’s squad, the Olympic team’s kit does not feature a wide green stripe across the chest or the logo of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). This is because, unlike other tournaments, the team plays under the guidance of the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) for the Olympics. Consequently, the FRMF logo is replaced by the Moroccan flag on the jersey.

The traditional color scheme of red and green is maintained, but the Puma logo is minimized to just the iconic feline without the name of the manufacturer being prominently displayed.

Despite the difference in their kit, the young Moroccan players are determined to shine on the Olympic stage and honor their country. Following their initial matchup against Argentina in Group B, the Lion Cubs, bolstered by over-age players Achraf Hakimi (25), Munir El Kajoui (35), and Soufiane Rahimi (28), will face Ukraine on Saturday at the same venue and Iraq next Tuesday at the Allianz Riviera in Nice.
