Brahim Diaz Eyes African Ballon d’Or and Spearheads Morocco’s Aspirations
Since taking on the Moroccan nationality in March, Brahim Diaz has made it abundantly clear: one of his foremost ambitions is to clinch the African Ballon d’Or. Having represented Morocco four times since renouncing his Spanish nationality, the Real Madrid player has set his sights high, aiming not just for personal glory but also keen on securing titles both with his club and the Moroccan national team, known as the Atlas Lions.
“My Goal is to Win the African Ballon d’Or”
“We have a very strong generation. It’s now normal for the national team of Morocco to reach the semifinals in the World Cup. We must work hard and keep winning. (…) Our primary objective is to win trophies as a group. We are a very good team both at Real Madrid and in the national team. My personal goal is to succeed collectively first and then go for the African Ballon d’Or,” Diaz expressed during an interview with beIN Sports.

The former AC Milan playmaker also highlighted his intentions with the younger members of the team. “I grew up with values and principles, and I know how to be a team player. We are a family, and we want to win trophies. I will support the younger players like El Khannouss and Ben Seghir. Although I am also young, I have some experience,” he shared.
Diaz further elaborated on his decision to play for Morocco. “I chose with my heart, opting for Morocco. My ultimate goal is to win a trophy with my country and offer it to the Moroccan people,” he mentioned.
After a brief vacation, Brahim Diaz returned to training at Valdebebas on Monday. Last season, he made a significant impact under coach Carlo Ancelotti, scoring 12 goals and providing 9 assists in 44 matches.
